Nifty opens closer to 9500, Sensex above 30,600, ITC biggest contributor to gains

At 9:15 am the BSE Sensex opened at 30,638 up by 173 points, while the Nifty50 opened up by 53 points at 9480 mark.

ITC is the top Nifty gainer and BPCL is the top Nifty loser in the morning hours. ITC is trading at Rs 294 per share up by 2.73% whereas BPCL is trading at Rs 695.70 per share, down by 0.96%.

There are 1109 advances, 330 declines and 462 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting some positive bias floating in the market.

The rupee opened at 64.52 per US dollar higher by 12 paise on Monday. On Friday, the rupee closed at 64.64 per US dollar.

Nifty50 has immediate resistance placed at the level of 9,450, and if Nifty50 holds above 9,450, it is likely to extend its rally up to the level of 9,500. On the downside, Nifty has strong support placed at the level of 9,370.

On Friday, the US stocks finished higher. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 142 points at 20,805. The Nasdaq Composite gained 29 points to close at 6,084. The S&P 500 closed 16 points up at 2,382.

Asian Markets are trading in positive territory on Monday. Japan’s Nikkei 225 has surged 67 points. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng has gained 233 points and China’s Shanghai Composite has advanced 6 points.
